I have an idea. Let’s stop buying diamonds until a solution comes into being which ensures proper pay for those who labor in mines, and quality health care for them and their families; the money made from sales remains in the mining area, and is used for improving the infrastructure, education, and residents’ lives; and form funds for reclaiming exhausted mines and their environment as best as possible.
If your future spouse insists on a diamond ring, find someone else. Find someone more empathic, compassionate, and better informed. You’ll save yourself possible decades of grief, not to mention the suffering of any children you may have had with them.
