But late Tuesday, Detroit surpassed it at 203. Chengdu, China and Delhi, India placed third and fourth, according to the website late Tuesday. Toronto, Canada was fifth. The bridge, that large building, and the church spire should be clearly, easily visible from that vantage point, not stuck in a fog bank that's actually smoke.
Thursday I could see it only four-five houses away in our neighborhood, like thick fog. We're in the middle of a block, and I couldn't see the corners of the next streets N & S of us. We usually can see much farther than that.
This morning was the first time in five days that the air smelled like air instead of either wood smoke (sometimes thin and not strong, like it's come from far away; other times so strong it's as if our and both our next door neighbors' non-functional fireplaces were going full tilt) or simply ugh and icky indescribable pollution.
